Japanese tea has held a significant place in the history of World Expositions, symbolizing cultural depth, elegance, and hospitality. Continuing this tradition, we invite you to a unique tea experience that creates a cultural bridge between Japan and Hungary.
In the tea-picking season of May, premium gyokuro – one of the finest Japanese teas – will be served using the Miska pitcher, the beloved mascot of the Hungarian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. In this cold-brew tea ceremony, the pitcher plays a central role in both preparation and presentation.
Alongside the tea, guests can enjoy Szamos marzipan fruit figures, reminiscent of the traditional Japanese nerikiri sweets, bringing together two artistic dessert traditions.
The ceremony is led by Junko Kurita, Japanese tea advisor, Tea Ambassador, and master of the Higashiabe-ryu sencha tea ceremony. Representing a tea school established during the Meiji era, she offers a uniquely blended experience of Japanese tea culture and Hungarian elements.

The Tea Ceremony Sessions start: at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.
Participation: up to 5 participants per session (first-come, first-served or by prior registration)
Observation: up to 20–30 guests per session
