“Do Hungarians Talk a Lot, and Japanese Write a Lot?” – Cultural Differences and Stereotypes

What truths lie behind national stereotypes? How do Hungarian and Japanese communication styles differ – and where can we find surprising similarities? These are the central questions explored in an engaging, interactive presentation co-organized by the University of Public Service (Budapest) and Osaka University.

The event, jointly hosted by the István Nemeskürty Faculty of Teacher Training (University of Public Service) and the Department of Hungarian Studies (Osaka University), focuses on Hungarian–Japanese cultural differences. This three-speaker, interactive session centers on the unique features of intercultural communication, including linguistic culture, protocol, digital and interpersonal communication practices, and literary connections between Hungary and Japan. Participants will explore the communication patterns of the two nations through language games and an intercultural quiz.
