Natural disasters cause serious damage all over the world. Just like earthquakes in Japan, extreme weather events related to water (floods, droughts) are the main problem in Hungary. Although we cannot eliminate these phenomena, we can do a lot to minimize the damage they cause. That is why it is essential that citizens become as familiar as possible with such situations and prepare for them in advance. As part of the B-prepared project, we have developed an application that supports the gain of the most necessary knowledge through an experience-based learning method. The 1838 ice storm that devastated Hungary’s capital left an indelible mark on the country’s history. The signs marking the level of the former flood are still visible on the walls of buildings in the city center. Following these old signs and other memorial sites, we have created a study tour that can be followed using a mobile phone application. We have incorporated the latest technical possibilities, such as augmented reality tools, into the educational material, which is enriched with illustrations and audio-visual material. In the presentation, we plan to showcase this real and virtual study tour.
