At the 2025 Osaka World Expo, one of the key speakers at the Hungarian Pavilion will be Sou Fujimoto, one of the most celebrated figures in contemporary Japanese architecture. His work is renowned worldwide for its airy, nature-inspired, and innovative designs. His philosophy of intertwining architecture and nature is a hallmark of his entire career, a concept that is perfectly embodied in the House of Music Hungary in Budapest, a project he won through an international design competition in 2014.

During his presentation at the Hungarian Pavilion, Fujimoto will offer an insight into the the creation process of the House of Music Hungary, sharing the story behind its conception, the design journey, and how he was inspired by the unique natural environment of the Budapest City Park. Opened in 2022, the building quickly became one of Budapest’s most iconic landmarks, earning recognition as one of the world’s finest architectural achievements. Fujimoto’s lecture will reveal the principles that shaped this remarkable structure, exploring how nature, music, and architecture intertwine within its design. He will also discuss why the Budapest project posed an exceptional professional challenge for him and how it became a source of inspiration throughout his career.
