As part of the Road Movie program series, the most popular Hungarian bands and artists were invited to write songs that bring to life the landscapes, streets, squares, cities, or regions closest to them. Over the past five years, hits have been created from different parts of Hungary, and each song has been accompanied by music videos and documentary films that show the artists’ personal connection to the places they chose.

The Road Movie Live here, in Osaka offers a selection of these and presents three Hungarian artists:

Akos, one ofthe most successful artists of Hungary, who has been active since more than 35 years by now. Releasing 32 albums, all reached gold and platinum status, selling more than 1,5 million copies. With his tours he travelled the whole world, in Budapest he could fill the Budapest Arena the most times. His lyrics often explore deep, philosophical themes, earning him recognition not only as a singer but also as a lyricist. He is also a poet, film director, and producer. His spectacular, sold-out concerts are defining events in the Hungarian music scene. spotify

Halott Pénz is a popular Hungarian hip-hop/pop band founded by Dávid Marsalkó. The band became known for their acoustic, melodic hip-hop style. Their songs blend easy-listening, catchy melodies with personal, often humorous lyrics that talk about everyday life and relationships. Today, Halott Pénz is a regular performer at the biggest Hungarian festivals, proving that Hungarian hip-hop can also be successful in the mainstream music scene. spotify

Ivan & the Parazol, the MTV EMA-winning alternative rock band from Budapest, is in their Golden Era with their most original album yet: Belle Époque. With massive stadium rock-esque choruses, razor sharp grooves, and powerful riffs homageing the Golden Age of guitar music. Their single Breeze made history as the first Hungarian track from a Budapest band to premiere on BBC Radio 1, proving that IATP is making waves far beyond their home country. spotify

In between the concerts, Lotfi Begi will set the mood. Begi is one of Hungary’s most well-known DJs and producers. He gained recognition with the band Compact Disco, with whom he represented Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest. In his solo career, he has produced numerous radio hits, and his versatile style blends elements of pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. He frequently collaborates with popular Hungarian artists.spotify
