Romengo

Romengo, formed in 2004 has given concerts in more than 30 countries of Europe and 4 continents, representing the Hungarian Gipsy music culture in highly prestigious world music festivals and concert halls. All their three greatest hits (Kétháné, Nagyecsed-Budapest, Folk utca) hit the first three places of the most famous World Music Chart Europe. Their call is to show the power of the cooperation of Gipsy and non-Gipsy people through the music which they settled on the title of their first album Kétháné which means „together” in Gipsy language. They are equally proud of their Hungarian and Gipsy origin as well as that they have the responsibility to preserve the Olah-Gipsy culture to our nation. Undoubtedly, the main jewel of Romengo Band is the voice of the Kossuth Prize and Womex Award winner Mónika Lakatos. For the first time as a Gipsy performer in 2020 she won the Womex Award which is mentioned as the Oscar prize of world music.
