The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble is Hungary’s premier and most important professional folk dance company. For seven decades, it has been showcasing the finest in traditional Carpathian Basin folklore, combining centuries-old heritage with cutting-edge stagecraft. It preserves and creates value, and its shows are unmistakably a blend of tradition and modernity.

Its rich and colourful repertoire has made it one of the world’s most travelled ensembles. In its seven decades of existence, it has performed on stages in 45 countries on 4 continents and has won the acclaim of more than 10 million spectators. The company currently boasts 44 dancers and a 14-piece orchestra.

Since July 2016, Gábor Mihályi and István Pál Szalonna have led the company with distinction.
