Discover the dynamic intersection of science, innovation, and immersive technology through the presentation of Hungary’s HUN-REN TKI and a cutting-edge AI-based Mixed Reality platform.

1. Introduction of HUN-REN TKI
The HUN-REN Centre for Research Management and Science Communication (TKI) supports more than 100 research groups spanning every scientific discipline — from humanities to life sciences and engineering. It serves as a virtual research institute with a mission to enable world-class research by providing strong administrative, legal, and innovation support. Thanks to its coordinated work, Hungarian researchers produce numerous high-impact publications and patents every year, contributing to Hungary’s global scientific reputation.
Speaker: Dr. Attila Nyikos, Director of HUN-REN TKI

2. Spatio-temporal AI services by cloud & AI-native programming: Enablers of low-latency immersive interaction and cooperative driver-assistance
Live demonstration of a novel edge cloud-based Mixed Reality platform supporting low-latency immersive interaction. Users can try a multi-player car soccer game, where small real remote-controlled cars, detected/tracked in real-time, play with a virtual ball, achieving true extended reality in which virtual and real elements are presented to the user via Hololens 2 devices and interact with each other.

Main technical features/messages:
– Spatio-temporal AI services by a distributed SW stack: real time environment detection and tracking
– Remote 3D simulation
– Low-latency interaction between virtual and physical objects
– Remote rendering framework
– Multi-user operation

Speakers:
Balázs Sonkoly, leader of the MTA-BME Network Softwarization Research Group, the co-leader of TKI’s HUN-REN-BME Cloud Applications Research Group and an associate professor at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)
Bálint György Nagy, research fellow at the High Speed Networks Laboratory of the Department of Telecommunications and Artificial Intelligence, member of the MTA-BME Network Softwarization and HUN-REN-BME Cloud Applications Research Groups
János Dóka, research fellow at the High Speed Networks Laboratory of the Department of Telecommunications and Artificial Intelligence, member of the MTA-BME Network Softwarization and HUN-REN-BME Cloud Applications Research Groups
Péter Szögi, junior research fellow at the HUN-REN-BME Cloud Applications Research Group
