István Pál Szalonna and his band

The members of the band, which was honoured with the “Hungarian Heritage” prize, are currently musicians of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. Their concerts feature the most beautiful music of the Carpathian Basin. They are committed to preserving and passing on the tradition, and they teach folk music as part of that mission.In 2006, as delegates of the Republic of Hungary, they participated in the UK’s 1956 commemorations. After the show, they were personally congratulated by King Charles III of England and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The performance included István Berecz, a prominent figure in the Hungarian folk dance movement, and his professional dancing friends.
